Taiwanese biotech startup Amelio Biomedical Co., Ltd. has announced a major breakthrough: a novel amino acid–metal chelated hemostatic material developed using its proprietary MACS (Metal-Amino Click Synthesis) technology has demonstrated the fastest hemostatic performance in animal studies worldwide, significantly outperforming current commercial products and signaling a revolutionary advance in emergency medical care.

Hemostasis speed is critical to survival—especially in trauma, surgery, and battlefield settings. Leveraging the MACS platform, the Amelio team developed a fast-acting, biocompatible, and potentially antibacterial powder-based hemostatic agent. The product is animal-free, shelf-stable at room temperature, and easy to carry, making it ideal for real-world emergency and commercial applications.

In a rat arterial bleeding model, RealSeal rapidly initiated clotting upon contact with the wound surface. Its average time to hemostasis was significantly faster than that of leading international products. The material also passed blood compatibility and cytotoxicity tests, showing high safety and strong preclinical promise.
