Liver-on-chip
Category: Biotech Service
Exhibitor: PYTHIA BIOTECH LTD.
Booth No: N915
Characteristic
The Liver-chip is a PDMS-based bio-chip designed for liver tissue engineering. Using di-electrophoresis force (DEP), hepatocytes and non-parenchymal cells are directed into 3D chambers within the chip. Subsequently, they are immobilized with a brief exposure to UV light in GelMA, a process facilitated by a photomask.
This innovative biotechnological product integrates advanced MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems) technology with cell culture techniques to recreate liver tissue in vitro under physiological conditions. By closely mimicking the functionality of normal liver tissue, including the secretion of albumin and urea, as well as the activity of AST/ALT and CYP enzymes, this technology offers a valuable platform for drug toxicity testing. Compared to traditional cell culture methods, liver chips provide a more accurate representation of liver tissue, making them highly beneficial for preclinical toxicity studies.
