Methydur is a sustained-release central nervous system medication that combines both immediate-release and extended-release mechanisms. It is developed using the proprietary ORADUR technology, with the goal of achieving true once-daily dosing to meet the therapeutic needs of children and adults with ADHD throughout the day.
The outer layer of the capsule provides a rapid onset of action, reaching therapeutic concentration within 2 hours of administration, while the inner matrix offers extended release over approximately 8 to 12 hours, eliminating the need for additional doses and avoiding interference with nighttime sleep.
Methydur formulation is designed to eliminate the need for in-school dosing, helping to reduce the risk of social stigma often associated with ADHD treatment in children and improving medication adherence and treatment consistency. In addition, the ORADUR patented technology offers abuse-deterrent properties, making it difficult to extract the active ingredient for misuse—an important advantage for controlled substances.
