Methydur is a sustained-release central nervous system medication that combines both immediate-release and extended-release mechanisms. It is developed using the proprietary ORADUR® technology, with the goal of achieving true once-daily dosing to meet the therapeutic needs of children and adults with ADHD throughout the day.
The outer layer of the capsule provides a rapid onset of action, reaching therapeutic concentration within 2 hours of administration, while the inner matrix offers extended release over approximately 8 to 12 hours, eliminating the need for additional doses and avoiding interference with nighttime sleep.
Methydur's formulation is designed to eliminate the need for in-school dosing, helping to reduce the risk of social stigma often associated with ADHD treatment in children and improving medication adherence and treatment consistency. In addition, the ORADUR® technology offers abuse-deterrent properties, making it difficult to extract the active ingredient for misuse—an important advantage for controlled substances.
