Characteristic
The Spectradyne Nanoparticle Analyzer is specifically designed for the rapid and accurate characterization of nanoparticles in complex samples. It utilizes Microfluidic Resistive Pulse Sensing (MRPS™) technology, combining electrical detection with Spectradyne’s patented single-use microfluidic cartridges to perform direct and reliable measurement of particle size and concentration—without relying on optical signals or indirect size estimation via diffusion. This results in more accurate and unbiased analysis. The disposable cartridges eliminate the need for instrument cleaning between runs, while requiring only 3 µL of sample per measurement, making it highly efficient and convenient for precious or limited samples.
F-MRPS is based on traditional Resistive Pulse Sensing (RPS), with a key innovation: the analysis chamber has been miniaturized and integrated into a disposable microfluidic cartridge, reducing the sensor size by 100-fold using advanced microfabrication techniques. This allows the detection of much smaller particles than traditional RPS systems. As particles suspended in the sample pass through a nanoconstriction in the cartridge, they transiently block part of the ionic current, producing a change in resistance that is proportional to their volume. Each particle generates a voltage pulse that enables high-resolution sizing and accurate particle counting. In addition, fluorescence-based detection can be performed by combining MRPS with laser excitation and detection, allowing phenotyping of individual particles. This provides advanced sensitivity and meets NIST-traceable fluorescence quantification standards.
