The Taiwan Animal Consortium is an animal phenotyping and drug testing platform supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology in Taiwan. It focuses on laboratory animal and provides comprehensive services for biotechnology and medical research.

Currently, the Animal Consortium integrates five national animal core facilities: the Taiwan Mouse Clinic (TMC), the Animal Image Facility (AIF) of Academia Sinica, the the Small Animal Imaging Core of Natinial Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU), the Laboratory Animal Center of National Cheng-Kung University (NCKU), and the laboratory of Phenomics & Diagnostics in Kaohsiung Chang-Gung Memorial Hospital (KCGMH).

 We provide comprehensive pre-clinical test services. For Neurobiology, we can assess mouse cognition and various behaviors. For Metabolism, we can detect the body composition and measure the metabolic rate of mice. For Cardiovascular, we can perform blood pressure, electrocardiogram, and cardiac ultrasound measurements. For Immunology, we can make asthma-sensitized mice and test lung function. We also can measure body temperature to determine the inflammation levels of mice. For Pathology services, we can perform tissue section and histology staining, blood and urine tests as well as various biochemistry and biomolecule tests. We also can perform various live animal imaging, including microCT, MRI, microPET/SPECT, Fluorescence or Luminescence Imaging, and Ultrasound.

We can custom-make various animal disease models for performing drug tests. In the near future, we will be able to provide Germ-Free mice and an intestinal bacteria inoculation service.

The Taiwan Animal Consortium has set up branches throughout the north and south of Taiwan, providing a convenient one-stop-shop for pre-clinical validation that is user-friendly for industry and academic researchers.
