Sleep Apnea Hypopnea Syndrome (SAHS) is a common sleep disorder affecting an estimated 1 billion people globally. Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA), the most prevalent type, is linked to cardiovascular diseases, daytime sleepiness, and increased mortality, as well as potential risks of atherosclerosis and tumors. While polysomnography (PSG) is the diagnostic gold standard, it is costly and not widely accessible. Home Sleep Apnea Testing (HSAT) offers convenience but lacks diagnostic precision and data integration capabilities. Our group presents a two-channel physiological signal smart pillow that integrates acoustic and heart rate variability (HRV) sensors to enhance the accuracy and usability of OSA diagnosis. The pillow analyzes snoring characteristics to infer airway obstruction sites and applies multimodal data for digital twin modeling to support clinical decision-making and postoperative monitoring. Designed for both home and clinical environments, the device aims to improve SAHS diagnosis and elevate patient quality of life.

**R & D team/Company Profile**
Professor Shen is currently Dean of the College of Information and Electrical Engineering at Feng Chia University. He holds a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Professor Shen collaborates extensively with clinicians in interdisciplinary biomedical research, including cardiology, neurology, and psychosomatic medicine, and holds 20 domestic and international patents. In 2012, he was selected as a fellow of the Stanford-Taiwan Biomedical (STB) program, contributing to research on medical design thinking. His expertise spans biomedical signal processing, AI, smart sensors, biomedical electronics, and optomechatronic integration. He has practical experience in medical product development and has received numerous honors, including the Hsinchu Science Park Star Award, the Epoch Foundation Emerging Talent Award, and the SCA Gold Award.
