DS MAP is one of WCC's key products currently under development. It features Diclofenac Sodium (DS)—a widely used pain-relief agent—delivered through our Microarray Patch (MAP) platform. While DS is commonly available in oral, topical, and transdermal forms, our MAP technology uses micro-scale dissolvable needles to deliver the drug directly and precisely into the skin, bypassing the barriers that limit conventional routes.
This targeted delivery translates into meaningful performance differences. In our preclinical permeation studies, DS MAP achieved 50× higher drug concentration at the target site within 30 minutes, and 100× at 1 hour, compared to a standard transdermal patch. A separate rat PK study recorded a Tmax of approximately 10 minutes—a fast onset profile for a DS formulation. Bioavailability reached ~80%, far exceeding the commercial gel product (~29%) and commercial DS patches (~2%).
Internally, these results translate to noticeable pain relief within 30 minutes, with effects sustained over 8 hours—a profile that outperforms traditional formulations requiring prolonged and repeated application.
With GLP toxicology and FDA Pre-IND completed, we are targeting clinical trial initiation in 2027.
