MiniMAP™ is a proprietary device developed by WCC Biomedical with two core goals in mind: accelerating microneedle research and enabling personalized point-of-care treatment. The device is built around two essential components — a specially engineered hydrogel-based microneedle patch, and an active ingredient formulated in liquid form.
The integration process is made possible through WCC's proprietary precision dipping technique, in which the hydrogel microneedles are immersed into the liquid formulation and allowed to absorb the active ingredient directly into the needle matrix. This approach eliminates the need for complex manufacturing infrastructure, making it uniquely suited for rapid prototyping and on-demand customization.
Once applied, the microneedles penetrate the skin and reach the dermal layer, triggering what we call the swelling process — a liquid exchange mechanism in which the hydrogel absorbs interstitial fluid and simultaneously releases the encapsulated active ingredient directly at the targeted site. This enables precise, localized delivery with minimal systemic exposure, improving both efficacy and safety compared to conventional transdermal or injectable methods.
By combining a simple loading mechanism with highly controlled release behavior, MiniMAP™ is designed to lower the barrier to entry for both clinical practitioners exploring microneedle-based therapies and researchers conducting early-stage formulation studies — without requiring full-scale manufacturing investment. In this way, MiniMAP™ aims to redefine how microneedle technology is accessed, tested, and applied across both clinical and consumer settings.
