Characteristic
Our team focuses on outdoor mobility, social participation, and independent living among older adults. We developed the “Smart Assistive Companion Dog” as a walking companion and mobility guidance system. Integrating sensing technology, mechatronic control, and human–machine interaction, the system provides directional cues, visual guidance, support for walking confidence, and safety reminders during walking. It is designed to reduce outdoor activity limitations caused by balance instability, unfamiliar environments, or fear of falling, helping older adults move more safely, remain connected with their communities, and sustain daily participation.
We also established a visual–vestibular function assessment system that combines dynamic visual acuity testing, multi-sensor analysis, and postural control evaluation. This system supports early detection of balance risks and mobility control problems in older adults and individuals with vestibular-related difficulties. In addition, our motion analysis services support the development of footwear, assistive devices, rehabilitation technologies, and exercise-related products through objective measurement and performance verification. Together, these technologies demonstrate an interdisciplinary model that connects clinical expertise, engineering design, and industry translation to advance smart care and age-friendly well-being. This exhibition presents not only individual tools, but also a practical pathway for translating research into community-based aging support and future service models, with scalable implementation across settings.
