Pharmacosmos introduced PentaHibe®, an innovative cryoprotective solution for cells and tissues designed as an alternative to DMSO. Although DMSO provides effective cryoprotection, its toxicity and side effects are dose-dependent. PentaHibe® utilizes the non-toxic oligosaccharide Pentaisomaltose® to significantly reduce the toxicity risks associated with DMSO while maintaining both safety and performance. PentaHibe® is suitable for the cryopreservation of various cell types, including mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), T cells, and hematopoietic stem cells. It can be used either as a standalone cryoprotectant or in combination with low concentrations of DMSO (1–2%). Pharmacosmos aims to become a key partner in advancing cell therapy innovation, supporting researchers and clinical development teams in developing safer, more effective, and highly reproducible cell therapy applications.
