Vancover is the only oral vancomycin capsule formulation currently available in Taiwan, specifically developed for the treatment of Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI). It addresses the limitations of the traditional approach, which requires oral administration of injectable vancomycin. Since vancomycin is minimally absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract, oral administration achieves high fecal concentrations (up to 1,000 μg/g) without systemic toxicity such as nephrotoxicity or ototoxicity, ensuring a favorable safety profile.

Compared to the labor-intensive preparation of injectable formulations—requiring syringes, saline dilution, and cold storage—Vancover capsules eliminate the need for manual compounding, thereby reducing the workload for nurses and pharmacists, while also minimizing contamination risk and ensuring proper medication storage. Its capsule formulation reduces unpleasant bitterness and odor, enhancing patient compliance and willingness to take the medication. Furthermore, for patients requiring feeding tubes, the capsule can be opened and administered in water within one hour, providing practical clinical convenience.
